Ami writes fiction, radio documentaries and drama. As a freelance
producer for CBC radio, her work has aried on Maritime Magazine,
This Morning, OutFront and The Sunday Edition. Her documentary,
Daughter of Family G, won an Excellence in Journalism Medalion
at The 2003 Atlantic Journalism Awards. She has been a finalist
in the Writers' Union of Canada Short Prose Competition as well
as the recipient of a grant from The Nova Scotia Department of
Tourism, Culture, and Heritage. Originally from the U.S., she
now lives with her husband and two sons in a farmhouse on the
Bay of Fundy.
Ami McKay’s novel The Birth House
(Knopf Canada February ’06) has been sold to 4th Estate
in the UK and William Morrow in the US. Luitinghs have Dutch rights
and German rights have gone to Goldman.
