John Bentley Mays is a weekly columnist
at the Globe and Mail. He is the former visual arts and architecture
critic of The Globe and Mail and was also a columnist for the National
Post.
He is the author of, among other books, Emerald City: Toronto
Visited; and Power in the Blood: An Odyssey of
Discovery in the American South, which was short-listed
for the Viacom Canada Writers' Trust Non-Fiction Award and was named
a 1997 Notable Book by The Globe and Mail. He is also the winner
of a National Newspaper Award and four National Magazine Awards.
John's latest book is Arrivals: Stories from the History
of Ontario. He lives in Toronto with his wife, writer Margaret
Cannon, and their daughter, Erin.
John is currently working on his book Eminence: Toronto's
Elite, which has been sold to Random House Canada.
